Time is Precious
“Time is precious” is a phrase we use in everyday life to imply that time never stops, and that it’s important not to waste it. We usually don’t think too far beyond this phrase, but everyone understands what it means. In healthcare, this phrase takes an even deeper meaning. It means a patient could be harmed or even die because they didn’t get treatment in time. It means a nurse cannot find the right on-call physician while a patient is in pain. It means a physician received a critical imaging result hours after the result was known.
All of these challenges (along with many others) occur many times per day in every hospital around the world. It causes immeasurable pain and suffering. It causes physicians and nurses to suffer from alert fatigue and burn out. It’s time for us to act like time is precious in our health systems, and ensure that actionable and accurate information reaches the right person at the right time. This is why Halo was founded, and achieving this objective will undoubtedly have a massive impact on the quality of care in the United States and around the world.
